With no doubt, the most prevalent Assault suit fielded is the Minmatar Assault. Players state that it benefits from broken strafing speeds, hit detection, and what not. I will disagree. When Scouts were the dominant suits played and when the Assault mk.0 already had it's 4/4 slot layout, no one complained about it being OP. However, when cloak delays, passive scans, and a few others things were introduced/added to better balance Scouts, more players flocked to the MinAss which in turn has led many to shift their negative nerf focus onto something else.
The Minmatar Assault does not need to be nerfed. It is a decent suit that only suffers from the stigma of it being a supposed FoTM. It is not necessarily better than the other Assaults and it certainly is not "broken" in any of its aspects. This further brings me to question why players are neglecting what the Amarr, Caldari, and Gallente have to offer. Their Assaults are just as deadly and are just as capable. Take a look at these example fittings.

-This example fitting does not suffer from speed penalties, has a 21 hp/s armor repair rate, can deal massive amounts of damage due to modifiers, and has a total of 820 or so eHP. With the inherent bonus of reduced heat build-up, the AmAssault makes an excellent platform for all-purpose, all-range slaying.

Ishukone Assault RR SMG Core Locus Nades X-3 Quantum Hives
-Like the Amarr Assault, this fit also does not suffer from any speed penalties. It has 900 total eHP, a 76 hp/s shield recharge rate, and enough armor buffer to ensure that one does not instantly die after losing all shields. The Ishukone Assault RR performs well at long range and can even be managed properly to be effective in close range. The only bane to this suit would be anything fitted with a shield based weapon, but because of the prevalence of CR use, this fitting should have no problems making quick work of even dual-tanked MinAssaults.

Allotek Burst AR SMG Core Locus Nades X-3 Quantum Nanohives
-Due to having the same slot layout of the Amarr, of course this fit would be similar. With no speed penalties, a 20 hp/s armor rep, 850+ eHP, and a main weapon that has a better damage profile than the ScR with no overheat drawbacks, the Gallente Assault makes for one deadly slayer at both close-quarters and medium ranged engagements.
